THREE TIPS FOR BETTER SEARCH RESULTS

Here are 3 great tips for getting the most out of your searches in Henry, the library's online catalog!

1. You can limit your results to only what's available on the library shelves. This is great because you won't get distracted by books that are checked out!

Run a search > use the Search Refiners on the left. Under Availability, click "Limit to records with available items"

There is a similar limit available on the Advanced search screen.

2. You can re-sort the items in your results list. The default list order is relevance, but you can re-sort the list by title, author, publication date, or even the date it was added to the library. We love the date options as a quick way to see what's newest! Look for the dropdown box (it says "Relevance") on the right.

3. Need resources published in a particular year or range of years? You can do this! Use Advanced search, and then take advantage of the Publication Date Range box at the bottom. Your ranges can even be open, so you can search for everything published after 2020, for instance.

WHY LOG IN?

You can do a lot in Henry, the library's online catalog, without logging into your personal user account. But here are a few things that are login-required. These perks may be worth that extra click!

  • See what you have checked out, and when those items are due

  • Renew your items

  • Place holds for items aren't available (you'll be next in line when they come back to the library)

  • Build lists of titles for research projects

  • Make purchase suggestions for the library

  • Notify the library on any typo's or errors in the catalog. Help the next guy find that C.S Blewis book! [strikethrough on the B]

Logging in is easy! Just click on the "Log in to your account" link in the upper right of the online catalog and follow the prompts.
